Abstract
Parents are seeking ways to help their learning disabled children develop reading skills. An obligation of professionals is to give meaningful suggestions which parents can employ with a minimum of orientation. This article describes practical techniques for strengthening the child's visual modality. No special equipment is required and the cost is minimal. Methods are suggested to increase visual discrimination and memory, left-to-right orientation, eye-hand coordination, visual imagery and phonetic awareness.
