Seventy-six Bender-Gestalt protocols were scored utilizing the Hain Scoring Method. The subjects were young adult moderately or mildly mentally retarded females. Protocols were scored for Hain's 15 differentiating signs identifying brain damage: 37% of the rehabilitated group and 39% of the nonrehabilitated group received critical scores. Characteristics of the procedure and limitations of the study are discussed.
