Abstract
This article reviews the proper content and considerations for Christians in educating their children, as put forward by the authors of the New Testament and other Christian literature before AD 250, who wrote when oral teachings and Bible interpretations of Christ and the apostles were still current in Christian memories.
The paper relates or summarises: the general duty of Christian parents to provide education for their children; the content of Christian education, especially ethics; how parents are to perform their task of educating; the obligations on Christian children as learners; and the double standard, whereby Christian students may learn material incompatible with Christian belief but a Christian is forbidden to teach such material.
