Abstract
Recently, the author presented a simple equation to approximate the density profile inside a symmetric structural polymer foam (Rodrigue, D. (2007)). This equation, based on a generalized Fourier series approximation, is now used to predict the apparent flexural modulus of these foams. The calculations are compared with data taken from the literature and the results show that this new model can predict with very high precision (maximum 2% deviation) the data under the range of conditions available.
