Abstract
THE Good Teeth Programme, which aims to instruct parents and children on the importance of eliminat ing plaque by tooth-brushing and on the choice of safe (ie sugar-free) snacks, has been used in the nur sery department of a primary school. The effective ness of this programme has been assessed by oral examination of the children involved and by the com pletion of questionnaires by parents before the pro gramme and afterwards. The examinations showed a great improvement in the standard of oral hygiene which could be attributed to the programme, and although the improvement in parental knowledge as shown by the answers to the questionnaires was not as great as had been hoped, it was concluded that the application of the programme was well worthwhile.
