Abstract
A DETAILED evaluation of a two month public stop- smoking campaign involving retail pharmacists in Fife showed that only 32 per cent of the pharmacies participated fully, and that a further 32 per cent took no part at all. Pharmacists gave advice to at least 893 people on smoking, and 51 per cent of the pharma cists interviewed felt their role as health educators was of some importance. However, health education campaigns involving retail pharmacists are con strained by the financial nature of the pharmacy business, and this will have to be borne in mind in any future exercises.
