Abstract
One of the critical practical problems in gifted and talented education is the training of teachers and others who deal with the gifted. In the past year the federal government has taken steps through USOE consortium grants to underwrite stipends for "federal fellows" in an effort to spotlight the fact that we are not training enough leaders, administrators, teachers and counselors in this area. Recognizing the importance of this matter, the editor has commissioned the most able talent he could find,--one of his former students, an assistant director of the San Fernando Valley Gifted Children Workshops in the 1960's and now professor of Educational Psychology at the University of Georgia, where she is part of one of the top teams in the country (headed by Dr. Torrance) in training for the doctorate in the area of gifted and talented. Kay is an editorial board member of this journal as well as a member of the executive committee of NAGC, and the past president of TAG. She has put together a great issue which may become a collector's item. Her editorial follows:
