Abstract
An era of special note for those interested in education of the gifted finished last September with the end of the last Carnegie grant to the NEA for the Academically Talented Student and the retirement of Charles E. Bish, its director for the past decade. It would be hard to name another person who has done so much to influence the education of gifted children during this last decade. His outstanding efforts culminated in his receiving from this organization the citation of merit at the Hartford Convention in 1967. Dr. Bish, whose address is 5114 Duvall Drive, Washington, D. C. 20016, continues his work on behalf of the gifted through an inservice program for teachers in Maryland. He was prevailed upon to write this short and modest account of the most comprehensive effort in behalf of gifred children ever undertaken in this country. We take this opportunity to salute Dr. Bish for his accomplishments, and to wish him many happy years to come.
