Abstract
A new Test of Non-Verbal Auditory Discrimination (TENVAD) is described. Standardization, reliability, and validity data are presented from a sample of both white and black middle and lower socioeconomic children, 6, 7, and 8 years old. The data demonstrate predictability of reading achievement and potential applicability for teacher and clinician. TENVAD is group administered, yields fairly stable performance across socioeconomic levels, and seems to have promise for early assessment of potential auditory learning disabilities.
