The processes of programming, space planning, and design of office environ ments can support or constrain access to and consideration and utilization of user-oriented information. This article summarizes the process approaches commonly used in Canada and the United States to plan office environments and generate user-oriented design requirements. Constraints and opportu nities inherent in each approach are discussed. Future trends and research directions are suggested.
