Cultural Centers as Agents of Educational Enhancement in Urban Schools

Abstract

Culture and education have a close and essential relationship. Cultural Centers (CC) play an important role in improving education by developing School Partnerships (SP) and enrichment programs (EP). That has a positive influence on learning outcomes and cultural sharing and exchange in classrooms, develops strong bonds and cooperations among students. It contributes to a safe, supportive learning environment. Examining how CC affects education, SP, and EP is the goal of this study. Using a mixed-method research methodology, the study collects data via interviews and a questionnaire from 475 cultural center employees and school administrators. NVivo software was used to evaluate the qualitative data, and SPSS software was used to examine the quantitative data. The study findings indicate CC creates connections among schools and promotes various interesting enhancement activities that develop students’ Academic Achievement (AA) and cultural competence. The investigation results reveal CC within educational institutions positively influences students’ Problem-Solving Skills (PSS) in enhancement programs. Also, EP develops AA, develops inclusive environments, and improves student engagement in schools that incorporate CC into their curriculum. This study makes a novel contribution by examining CC on educational outcomes through SP and EP. It also reveals how connecting CC with schools improves curriculum and student engagement. The research demonstrates that collaboration between CC and schools creates sophisticated EP that improves student academic outcomes and accommodates diverse learning preferences.
