Abstract
A rationale is presented for early intervention as a necessary component of sound educational programing for the handicapped child. An early intervention program serving 78 children ranging in age from 5 to 76 months is discussed. This project was composed of an infant unit, toddler unit, preschool unit, and parent education unit. The approach used in the project emphasized early intervention, parental involvement, developmental programing and the integration of normal (nondelayed) and handicapped (delayed) children in the same program.
