Reports of toxic serum theophylline concentrations in adults following influenza vaccination prompted this study. Peak and trough serum theophylline concentrations were measured in eight severely asthmatic children before and after vaccination against influenza. All eight chil dren had been treated with chronic theophylline therapy for at least one year prior to joining the study. No significant alteration of theophylline levels were seen up to 52 hours after vac cination. No clinical evidence of drug toxicity developed.
