Healthy boys and girls show marked differ ences in their need for or use of oxygen, depend ing upon their body builds.
Slender children use more oxygen per kilogram body weight per minute than broad built ones when matched for age and sex. This raises the question of biochemical individuality with body build as the selective factor.
