Abstract
The placement results and a description of the first Terminal Operators Program, a computer training program for physically disabled persons, are presented. An evaluation of the program suggested that the program was providing adequate computer skills training, but it was determined that computer terminal operator jobs were not readily available, and that microcomputer operators were in greater demand. The harriers to employment, such as reduced financial incentive and lack of self confidence, were underestimated in the original curriculum. The results of efforts to remedy these problems, in the form of tightening of admission policies, improving the curriculum, adding vocational counselling and adding a job club are discussed, along with the placement results of the second program.
