Abstract

To the Editor
We do not wish to criticize the outstanding work of Wang and his colleagues and wish to apologize for that. Our purpose was to explain the extent to which our work differed from those previously published. Wang’s article focused on presentations to emergency departments and non-psychiatric wards for suicidal ideation or behavior. However, we were willing to restrict ourselves to the rate of suicide after a suicide attempt only and regardless to the inclusion location, and so we obtained higher suicide rates.
Unfortunately, our methodological choices allowed us to include only a small number of studies. Our results should therefore be interpreted with caution and should be supplemented by future studies.
