Shifting from Media to Literacy

Abstract

Reflecting on how media literacy has changed in the United States in recent years, this article argues that the field has shifted from an emphasis on media to an emphasis on literacy. The result is a change in practice that makes more pedagogical sense than media literacy conceived of as an ideological or political movement.
