El artículo presenta una revisión de las investigaciones más recientes que analizan la participación de los varones en las tareas de cuidado y educación infantil. Si bien la función principal de los hombres ha sido la de ser proveedores económicos o “ganadores de pan”, en los nuevos modelos familiares la figura paterna asume nuevos roles y responsabilidades. En este contexto, se estudia el tiempo que los varones invierten en estas tareas, el tipo de actividades en las que participan con mayor frecuencia, así como las variables que modulan esta participación.
