Abstract
The present paper demonstrates an effort to control the torsional vibration of a piezo electric composite laminate using its intrinsic structural coupling effect. The sensor and actuator were built-in to the structure. The signal from the sensor was directly fed into the actuator without modification except amplification. Various sensor-actuator configurations were investigated and a characteristic damping time was employed to evaluate the effectiveness of torsional vibration control. Certain interesting structural behaviors were observed and the optimal configuration was identified.
