Abstract
We are reporting the first robotic gastric volvulus case operated robotically (short operating time period) with a good outcome. Seventy-seven-year-old female presented with severe dysphagia on swallowing and chest discomfort. CT and barium esophagram showed gastric volvulus, and EGD showed mucosal changes. The patient was scheduled for and underwent a robotic gastric volvulus detorsion, anterior fundoplication, and gastropexy. The procedure went uneventfully and was completed in 70 minutes. Robotic surgery is a safe and effective tool for surgery in complex surgery like gastric volvulus. Blood loss was 50 cc, and the patient was asymptomatic without complications. The six-month barium swallow radiography is unremarkable. This is the first operative video showing a diligent surgical method used for gastric volvulus with a 6-month follow-up barium esophagram to ensure an effective long-term outcome.
