This interview was done as a companion piece to the article “The Origin of Antithyroid Drugs” by Dr. David Cooper published in Thyroid (insert when this will be published). This article is part of a series of articles published monthly in 2023 for the centennial celebration of the American Thyroid Association. These monthly articles cover many aspects of thyroid discovery over the past 100 years. In this interview, Dr. David Cooper discusses the interesting discovery of antithyroid drugs and the development and clinical application of these medications for the treatment of hyperthyroidism. It also highlights a lecture (not previously published) given by Dr. Clark Sawin at the International Thyroid Congress in Toronto, Canada in 1995.
