Abstract
The field of surgical thyroidology is rapidly evolving. In the past few years, we have seen the introduction, establishment, and impact of many novel surgical adjuncts, techniques, and interventional ablative technologies. The 2022 Year in Surgical Thyroidology featured key clinical research within five categories: parathyroid autofluorescence, advanced radiofrequency ablation, extent of thyroid surgery, role of prophylactic central neck dissection, and intraoperative laryngeal nerve monitoring. The main objective of this review is to highlight the most impactful studies published between September 2021 and August 2022 featuring these surgical and technological advancements.
