Abstract
Importance:
The loss of the posterior mandibular angle not only contributes to a senile appearance, but also the loss of support contributes to the formation of jowls. Traditional Superficial Musculo Aponeurotic System (SMAS) facelifts offer little improvement in this area.
Objective:
An SMAS pedicle flap in conjunction with an SMAS facelift helps to restore posterior mandibular angle fullness, greatly improving the aesthetic outcome and restoring structure to the face.
Design:
Surgical Pearls—description of a novel surgical technique.
Setting:
A private practice.
Participants:
Patients who underwent the procedure.
