Abstract
Classical Five-Element Acupuncture was brought to the Western world by the late J.R. Worsley, MAc, DrAc(China), ND(UK) (1923–2003
The seven energetic blocks and impediments to treatment efficacy, the concept of Causative Factor (“CF”)—the one primary elemental imbalance at the root of a patient's symptoms—and the diagnostic correspondences used to diagnose the CF accurately, are discussed. The seven energetic blocks include Possession, Aggressive Energy, Husband/Wife Imbalance, the Umbilical Pulse, Akabani Imbalances, Entry/Exit blocks, and Spirit Level blocks.
The Five Element diagnostic indicators include assessment of the patient's odor, facial color, vocal quality, and emotion. Each element has a specific odor, color, sound, and emotion, which will manifest when that particular element is the CF. Once any and all energetic blocks and impediments have been resolved, the CF becomes the focus of treatment.
