In this study, we conducted a survey to quantify and assess the generation of wood waste by Ohio's wood industry cluster. We find that large amounts of wood waste are produced in the state, and that limited markets exist for their use. These findings suggest a potential need for cooperative structures to manage and find markets for sawmills, as well as the need for a recycling facility to handle this material that is otherwise landfilled.
