Abstract
An account of recent research on the syntheses, structures, and properties of the complexes formed between carboranes and metals in the pentagonal bipyramidal and icosahedral cage systems is given. When appropriate, the differences in the reactivities of these complexes with their borane and cyclopentadienyl analogues are discussed.
