Abstract
Ten years ago, Vladimir Felzmann severed a long-standing link with Opus Dei, the controversial Roman Catholic society which made front-page news when its founder, Josemaria Escriva de Balaguer, was beatified in May 1992. Papal honours seldom hit the headlines, but Escriva's association with General Franco and the uncharacteristic speed with which the Vatican handled his case, provoked dissension worldwide.
