Abstract
Jerzy Pilch is a writer and literary critic. In 1983 he co-founded the underground literary circle Na GYos, which organised regular readings of suppressed writing. He now regularly contributes to the journal Na GYos, launched in 1990, which grew out of these informal gatherings. 'The register of adulteresses' comes from the novel Proza Podrózna ('Prose Travels') to be published in 1993 by Puls Publications, London. This extract was first published in Polish in Puls 53, 1991.
