Abstract
The following is the text of a letter by a leading Czech writer to UN Secretary General, Dr. Kurt Waldheim. It was sent after the police had raided the homes of writers, historians and philosophers, confiscating books, notes and manuscripts of work in progress. (See also pp.50–8.)
