A 55-year-old edentulous man was referred to Venizelion Hospital with a long-standing symptom of burning and painful mouth, particularly while eating. During the previous 10 months he had seen several physicians and had been treated with many different medications, without resolution of his symptoms. He was otherwise healthy and denied a history of smoking or excessive alcohol intake.
