Abstract
In 2009, Morrison, the healthcare “food service” division of Compass Group Canada, introduced Steamplicity, an innovative meal and meal delivery system. Morrison claims enhanced patient satisfaction with meals, reporting scores of greater than 90% satisfaction and tray waste reductions of 39%. Patients are eating what they order. Reports of the waste typically generated by a hospital's food service operations are indicating Carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) footprint reductions in the range of 60% versus the environmental impact of previous meal delivery systems.
