The term basal cell adenoma was used by Kleinsasser and Klien

in 1967 to describe benign salivary gland tumors comprised of a single type of epithelium. Basal cell adenocarcinoma is a relatively new entity, and there are only a few cases reported in the literature. It has a morphology like that of a basal cell adenoma but has growth characteristics of a malignant neoplasm.
