Peritoneal Dialysis International: Journal of the International Society for Peritoneal Dialysis

We have described the extensive use of peritoneal dialysis in Toronto, a city where in 1976, before the advent of CAPD, 44.3% of ESRD patients were maintained on intermittent peritoneal dialysis. The introduction of CAPD has increased to 56.2% the proportion of patients maintained on peritoneal dialysis as of December 31, 1979. It remains to be seen if this trend will be repeated in other countries.
