Group Analysis explores the theory, practice and experience of analytical group psychotherapy, embracing concepts derived from psychoanalytic psychology, social psychology, group dynamics, sociology and anthropology. The journal is a meeting-point for these varied disciplines, providing an international interdisciplinary forum for dialogue among practitioners, theoreticians and researchers.
Differing Approaches and Contexts
Integrating psychodynamic, systemic and sociological perspectives, group analysis represents a distinct as well as consistent approach to analytic group psychotherapy. Due to this, it is more than the application of psychoanalytic concepts and principles. The journal explores the application of group analysis in the wider context of medical and psychiatric institutions and community mental health care services. It also addresses the group dynamic processes in organisations and in general society.
Special Sections, Reviews and Commentaries
Group Analysis regularly includes Special Sections devoted to particular themes and welcomes commentaries on its published articles. Book reviews are an important regular feature as is the international calendar which lists forthcoming events of interest to the reader.
"Group Analysis enables group psychotherapists from different orientations to enrich their work by looking at clinical phenomena from a psychoanalytic viewpoint. It is the only psychoanalytic group psychotherapy journal." Karl König Georg-August-University Göttingen
"Group Analysis has achieved unquestioned international prestige" Saul Scheidlinger Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York
