Africa Spectrum is published by the Institute for African Affairs of the German Institute for Global and Area Studies (GIGA) in Hamburg. It is a double-blind, peer-reviewed Open Access journal dedicated to promoting scientific knowledge on politics, societies, and development in Africa, as well as Africa's role in the international system. As a multidisciplinary journal, Africa Spectrum welcomes submissions employing a variety of theoretical and methodological approaches. In addition to original research articles, Africa Spectrum also publishes analytical reports, debate articles, book reviews, and multi-book review essays. Please see the Aims and Scope tab for further information. The journal is a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

This journal is financially supported by the German Institute for Global and Area Studies (GIGA) and therefore does not charge an article processing charge for open access publication.
