Abstract
The model of the engineering education curriculum (EEC) considered here is based on some elements of information transfer theory, mainly using modest algebraic techniques. Some previous information and wider viewpoints are considered. Three groups of subjects comprising the EEC are considered, and the optimal distribution of teaching time between them is investigated. Two criteria for optimization are taken into consideration: the cost and the quality of education. The cost, obviously, is expressed in monetary units, but the quality requires special consideration. An idea, based on an electric or hydraulic analogy, for an estimation method for better distribution of teaching time is proposed.
