Abstract
This paper describes a unique project developed by a group of students at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Louisiana State University with a focus on the design, building, and testing of a rocket nozzle system on a high-altitude student platform (HASP). HASP provides student groups with access to a near-space environment for flight durations and experiment capabilities intermediate between what is possible with small sounding balloons and low-earth-orbit rocket launches. The detailed designs of the rocket nozzle testing system and the experiences gained through this project are presented.
