Abstract
This paper presents software for training students in the field of computer vision and digital image processing. The procedure for realising the system for retrieval from a digital image collection based on colour and texture features is presented. This type of system realisation enables students to test the existing and new descriptors of colour and texture without any need to implement the complete system. What is proposed here is a simple and efficient way for storing and retrieving feature vectors of images from collections. The system is implemented by using a MATLAB program package and its tools for digital image processing, wavelet signal analysis and statistical data processing. In the paper are presented examples of testing standard descriptors of colour and texture and, for comparing descriptors, standard statistics metrics are used. We also show the example of realising a CBIR algorithm using our educational software.
