Abstract
Over-current protection for phase faults is very common and protection schemes based on different types of relays are presented in the literature. Even though these published works present protection coordination of radial, parallel and ring feeders, a systematic approach to the handling of a complex network is not found. This paper aims to provide a systematic approach for protection coordination of a complex but realistic network. A case study was used to elaborate the different steps involved and references were given to applicable standards.
