The paper illustrates the use of electrical principles in modeling biological processes for lectures suitable for bioelectrical engineering courses. The concepts of the difference equation, transfer function, amplitude spectrum, sampling theorem and Nyquist frequency are used to describe the extraction of an acoustic cue by the auditory cortex.
