Although engineering students are trained to solve a wide range of problems, they often lack experience in doing mathematical proofs. To encourage students to learn this important skill, the author presents several proofs of a well-known identity. The methods include simple algebraic and geometric proofs, engineering mathematical solutions, and techniques from finite mathematics.
