Abstract
Repair of umbilical hernia at the time an abdominoplasty is performed is complicated by the possibility of umbilical necrosis. Understanding the vascular anatomy of the umbilicus is the most important aspect of being able to perform a successful herniorrhaphy without resulting in umbilical stalk necrosis. The vascular anatomy of the umbilicus is discussed, and a method of performing umbilical herniorrhaphy during abdominoplasty without damaging the vascular supply to the umbilicus is described.
