Abstract
The bed and breakfast (B&B) option is often viewed as an attractive alternative to the traditional hotel/motel room. Although it is experiencing growing popularity in the Canadian accommodation industry, information on this emerging sector is quite limited. This study seeks to provide a basic understanding of the B&B industry by establishing baseline profiles of guest origin, operating practices, operator characteristics and financial performance of inns throughout Canada. Implications for inn owners and operators are discussed.
