Socio-organizational aspects of peritoneal dialysis after 10 years: An unbiased look

Abstract

No changes in peritoneal dialysis (PD) penetration have been recorded in the last 10 years in Italy. Social and organizational issues underlie behind the scarce percentage of patients in PD. In my view the lack of growth is intrinsic to the method, and the actual penetration is rather close to the proportion of uremic patients who can really benefit from PD.
