Breast malignancy was the most common cancer diagnosed in women in 2022, with surgery being the primary treatment in most cases, including mastectomy. The loss of one or both breasts after mastectomy can negatively impact a woman’s quality of life, including body image. External breast prostheses is an alternative that can improve those aspects. As patients after breast cancer treatment need to know where to obtain and how to use an external breast prosthesis, it is important for occupational therapists to expand their knowledge of such technical aids. Aim of the study: to explore the experiences of women in Latvia who had undergone mastectomy and used external breast prostheses.
