Abstract
This research validated the Sensory Health Awareness and Responsiveness Profile (SHARP). Construct validity was found among the SHARP and measures of well-being, interoception, and sensory processing, demonstrating the interrelatedness of these constructs.

Purpose The purpose of this research was to determine the construct validity of the SHARP. SHARP measures sensory health, [ADD DEFINITION]. Design/methods A psychometric design was used along with Spearman’s Rank Order Correlation. Participants completed the SHARP, PERMA Profiler, Multidimensional Assessment of Interoceptive Awareness-Second Edition (MAIA-2), and Adolescent/Adult Sensory profile (AASP). Sampling Convenience samples of Dominican University New York students. Results SHARP total scores significantly correlated with PERMA overall well-being (r=.245, p=.031), engagement (r=.240, p=.034), and relationships (r=.256, p=.024). SHARP awareness scores significantly correlated with PERMA overall well-being (r=.357, p=.001), positive emotion (r=.223, p=.05), engagement (r=.282, p=.012), relationships (r=.438, p<.001), meaning (r=.241, p=.034), and accomplishment (r=.227, p=.046). SHARP awareness scores were significantly correlated with MAIA-2 noticing (r=.330, p=.003), not-worrying (r=-.258, p=.032), emotional awareness (r=.241, p=.032), and body listening (r=.267, p=.018). SHARP responsiveness scores significantly correlated with AASP sensation seeking (r=.304, p=.006), sensory sensitivity (r=.280, p=.012), and sensation avoiding (r=.370, p<.001). Conclusion The SHARP demonstrated construct validity with measures of well-being, interoception, and sensory processing, indicating that sensory health encompasses these constructs. Impact Statement The SHARP profiles an individual’s awareness and responsiveness to sensations and can be used to support health and well-being through a sensory lens. As the first tool for sensory health, the SHARP bridges the gap between sensory processing and well-being.
