This study aims to suggest the basis for the development of evaluation items used to measure the social play of preschool children. Through this study, items for measuring the social play of preschool children were developed. It is expected that these results can be used as a basic set of data to promote more social play by preschool children.

PURPOSE: This study aims to suggest the basis for the development of evaluation items used to measure the social play for preschool children.
METHOD: Opinions were collected form 22 pediatric occupational therapist and play-related expert panel using the delphi method. The first survey gathered opinions through items reconstructed using closed-ended and open-ended questions for social play, while the second survey determined the content validity ratio, consensus and stability of each item. The third survey was a final check of the opinions by providing a response and results to the second survey.
RESULTS: Based on the Parten's social play stages, the social play items were examined by 95 items (Unoccupied play 15 items, Onlooker play 9 items, Solitary play 15 items, Parallel play 16 items, Associative play 17 items, Cooperative play 23 items) primary and 89 items (Unoccupied play 12 items, Onlooker play 7 items, Solitary play 14 items, Parallel play 16 items, Associative play 17 items, Cooperative play 23 items) secondary social play items. Finally, 89 items (Unoccupied play 12 items, Onlooker play 7 items, Solitary play 14 items, Parallel play 16 items, Associative play 17 items, Cooperative play 23 items) were developed. The results of the third delphi showed a high level of content validity of .92, stability of .12, consensus of .85, which are regarded as high scores.
CONCLUSION: Through this study, items for measuring the social play for preschool children were developed. In is expected that these results can be used as a basic set of data to promote more social play by preschool children
