Abstract
Asthma self-management education involves a collaborative partnership between the education provider and the patient. An asthma action plan facilitates asthma self-management and improves patient outcomes. The 2007 asthma guidelines from the National Asthma Education and Prevention Program emphasize that respiratory therapists, nurses, pharmacists, and physicians should teach and reinforce asthma self-management education at every opportunity and in all settings.
