The occupational health nurse practitioner is an integral part of coordinating care for
the injured or ill worker. Decisions regarding whether an injury or illness is related to
work are based on the practitioner's diagnosis and reports of the worker's progress.
Understanding workers' compensation laws will enable the practitioner to provide efficient
care for the worker.
