Abstract
In an investigation of electrical stimulation begun in 1972 in the field of chronic pain control, blood pressure was monitored during the sessions. The patient population was comprised of a group of 56 patients, with chronic pain, accompanied by essential hypertension. Utilizing a stimulator with sine-wave, 2 Hertz, we found systolic blood pressure significantly lowered after each session of approximately 15 minutes duration in 46 out of 56 cases in the series. The method of stimulation is described and the results discussed.
